GW Pharmaceuticals – Marijuana and Sativex

GW Pharmaceuticals new 2008 enhancements are based on 2007 researches which presented a new era in the company's production. After 2007 talks and agreement with Otsuka, Sativex, the company's main product got its potential right for success at the vastest pharmacological market - United States - giving financial aid for the proposal focused on receiving an acceptation from the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration). On the other side, the cooperation initiated with Otsuka at the end of 2007 paved a way to a bounce in the creation process of new medical marijuana pills. In course of 2007 the company received an acceptation for the new medicine in Canada, to be applied as a relief from cancer pain, and was favored by European regulatory bodies with relation to their claims.

This year was fertile for the company's future, with three Sativex researches which took place in the USA and Europe and will soon show the results. The first study was conducted with participation of 339 sufferers of MS neuropathic pain and took place in Europe. The research has already been accomplished and the results are to be issued in the following months. On the other hand, MS spasticity Phase III research which has been initiated according to the UK officials' requirements, are going on according to the schedule. The mentioned studies give a possibility to appeal for accepting Sativex in Europe in course of 2009.

Otsuka cooperation is also witnessing some improvement in both directions. The research of cancer Phase IIb/III pain in the USA started in later 2007, as it had been scheduled. Other elements of the Sativex program in America accorded with Food and Drug Administration are also improving.
