Cocaine (COC) Drug Test is designed to detect qualitative detection of COC and primarily benzoylecgonine as metabolites in urine. The test has the cutoff of 300 ng/ml of COC. This is exactly the standard of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
There are several ways for cocaine to be ingested. It can be smoked, or smelled or taken orally. It appears in the urine in the form of benzoylecgonine in a short time. The biological half-life of it is longer that the one of cocaine (5 to 8 hours compared to 0.5 to1.5 hours). Therefore the former can be detected in the urine after 24-80 hours since cocaine was taken.
The principle of the highly specific immunochemical reactions between antigens and antibodies lies at the basis of the test. 300 ng/ml of COC is the test’s cutoff.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- First the test strip should be removed from the foil pouch.
- Then, hold the strip vertically and dip it into the sample. Maximum line should not be exceeded.
- Wait for 3 to 5 minutes and get your result.
TEST INTERPRETATION
- 1. You will know that the test works as a color band will be seen at the left section of the result window. This section is called the Control Band.
- The test results are shown in the right section of the result window. This is the Test Band that can change color as well.
TWO COLOR BANDS mean that the result is NEGATIVE. It shows that there is no COC above the cut-off level in your urine.
ONE COLOR BAND means that the result is POSITIVE. It shows that there is COC above or at the cut-off level in your urine.
INVALID result is also possible. The test is considered invalid when no color band appeared in the left section of the result window.
In certain cases it is possible for a very faint band in the right section of the result window to appear. Such result means that you COC concentration is near or below the cut-off level. Therefore, it is recommended to carry out the test one more time or choose a more exact testing method. |
